SuSy started the new year with a new hire. George Paschos joins the team as a full stack developer, focusing on the PRAHEP social housing project. We got to know George a little better in his first week.
What’s your role?
I am a Full Stack Software Developer at SuSy, my role will also include some statistical analysis. I will need to know the mathematics behind the product of SuSy as well.
I will be designing both front and back end. I will be mainly working on SuSy’s PRAHEP project in the coming months and I am very excited to get going.
What’s your story?
I moved to the UK from Greece five years ago because I had been offered the opportunity to do a PHD. Just before I came I was also offered a job and so I decided to take that option.
I was a software engineer before I started my role at SuSy House for a company the creates banking and retail software. I worked there for four years.
Why were you interested in SuSy?
I came to SuSy House because I felt like in my previous role I had stopped learning I was also curious to see what the dynamics would be in new company.
I wanted to begin learning new things and I wanted to work with different types of people on different projects to take me out of my comfort zone. It was a bit scary but I wanted to take the risk.
How has your first week been?
I really like the people, everyone had made me feel at home and I’ve not been nervous at all and so far its going great.
What are you looking forward to?
I love the vision of SuSy. I am an ecologist myself. I am a vegetarian and I love that I am now able to work with SuSy towards a shared vision. I would love people to be more aware of the environment and sustainability to help achieve Net Zero and am proud to be working for such company.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy drawing and playing both board and computer games. I can speak three languages.
